Dear Members,

Sub:  Tenth SAARC Trade Fair in Kathmandu (Nepali Sainik Manch Tundikhel
          Maidan), 29th October to 3rd November 2010

We wish to inform you that the Council has received a communication from Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India forwarding therewith details regarding 10th SAARC Trade Fair to be held in Kathmandu (Nepali Sainik Manch, Tundikhel Maidan) from 29th October to 3rd November 2010.

The Government of Nepal proposes to hold the 10th SAARC Trade Fair in Kathmandu.  The details of Stall charges are given below:

  1. a) US$.600 for 3 X 3 sq.meter for five days
  2. b) Open space US$ 20 per square meter for five days

Products display:

Herbal Products, Leather Products, jute & Plastic items, Textiles & Ready made garments, Handicrafts, Ceramic & Sanitary fittings, Food & Processed food, Electrical & Electrical items, Auto parts & Vehicles, Rubber based products, Jewellery & semi precious costumes, Computers & Accessories, Furniture & Furnishings and many other products manufactured & marketed within the SAARC Region.

About SAARC Trade Fair:

The holding SAARC Trade Fair has become a regular feature since 1996 when the first Trade Fair was held India.  The Trade Fairs are one of the important vehicles for promoting intra-SAARC trade.

SAARC Trade Fair is an annual event held in different member countries to promote intra-regional trade and enhance economic cooperation.  The region’s businessmen, iindustrialists, entrepreneurs and policy makers come together to forge business links and investments for accelerated economic growth and wellbeing of its peoples as enshrined in SAARC charter.

The 9th SAARC Trade Fair held in Bhutan attracted manufacturers, exporters, trading organizations, women entrepreneurs and micro enterprises, which are in the business of Engineering Products and other products like herbal products, leather products, jute & plastic items, handicrafts, jewellery & semi precious costumes, furniture & furnishings and many other products manufactured and marketed within the SAARC Region.

The event to be held in Nepal would be attended by participants from all member country and would bring together a cross section of stakeholders from the Government, Private Sector and Research institutes in the region to review and reflect on the economic cooperation within South Asia to date and how the process can be further strengthened by incorporating trade, extending cooperation to investment, trade facilitation, transport, energy etc.

Being an important Trade Event in SAARC Region and India being a member country, the Council like to request our member exporters of leather & leather products including footwear to participate in the 10th SAARC Trade Fair to be held in NEPAL.
