Dear Members,

Sub: 39th International Shoe and Leather Goods Fair (ISF), Tokyo, Japan, Oct 6-8, 2009

This is further to Council’s Circular dated May 21, 2009 issued regarding the 39th ISF to be held in Japan during Oct 6-8, 2009. Members interested of participating in this Trade Fair were advised to contact the Fair Authority F-Works Co., Ltd, Tokyo, and carryout the formalities of stand booking.   

It was also informed in the aforesaid circular that the Council is separately organizing a Presentation-cum-Interaction Seminar to create awareness of the opportunity potential in the Indian Leather Industry. The Council is also planning to put-up an Information Booth wherein CDs, Publicity Brochure etc will be dissiminated besides Interacting with the Japanese visitors.

The Fair Authorty has now finalized all the information on the 39th ISF.  Exhibition Guide Book as pdf file is attached herewith. The Guide has all the details such as:

  • Report of the previous edition of the Fair
  • Deadline for submitting the Applications
  • Package Booth sizes and its specifications
  • Package Booth cost
  • Additional accessories and cost
  • General terms of contract

The Package Booth (ready-to-use Booth) approximate costs as per today’s exchange rates are – For 15 Sq meters: About US $ 6235, For 12 Sq meters: About $ 4988, and For 9 Sq meters: About $ 3741. These tariffs have been calculated after taking into account the 5% discount, which will be given by the Fair Authority if the applications are received at the Fair Authority’s office on or before July 24, 2009.

The Application Form is attached herewith.  Interested members may fill up the Form and send it by Fax No.+81 3 5651 2875 and by E mail to: isf@f-works.com before July 24, 2009 to avail the 5% discount given by Fair Authority.

Please note that the Council is not organizing Group participation of members in this Fair, and therefore members interested have to directly contact F-Works Co.Ltd., Tokyo as per the contact details given above and in the Exhbition Guide Book.

If you are participating and/or visiting the 39th ISF, you may attend the Presentation-cum-Interaction meeting / conference which will be held on Oct 7, 2009 alongside the ISF.

The Council has received information that the 39th Edition of the International Shoe and Leather Goods Fair (ISF) will take place in Tokyo, Japan during Oct 6-8, 2009. The Fair is organized by F-Works Company Limited and this Event is one of the premier events for the leather products industry in Japan. The report of the previous 38th edition of the Fair is attached herewith which will give information like Event size, Exhibitors, Visitors, participating countries and its importance.  

For detailed information on the Fair, please visit the website www.f-works.com/isf.  The ‘Exhibitor Guide’ has information about the Booth sizes (Ready-Built Package Booth of 9, 12, 15 or 18 square meters), approximate Booth costs, footwear industry information for 2007 etc.

The Council is not organizing Group participation of members in this Fair and therefore, MDA assistance will not be available to the Indian exporters participating in this Fair.  This is for your information.

Road Show planned alongside the 39th ISF Fair


The Council intends to organize a Road Show in Japan with the broad interest of promoting joint venture collaborations between the entrepreneurs of Japan and India in the leather & leather products industry.   The basic objective will be to create awareness of the India’s manufacturing competitiveness and capabilities, and present the opportunity potential available in the Indian leather industry. The Road Show’s Mission will be to motivate the Japanese companies to enhance their business and investment co-operations with India. In nutshell, India will be presented as an attractive destination to the Japanese Leather Industry.  Road Show will be in the form of Presentation-cum-Interaction Meeting / Conference, which will be held on Oct 7, 2009.

From Japanese side, the Council will be aiming for the participation of representatives of Japan Leather & Leather Goods industries Association (JLIA), Japanese companies operating in Leather and Leather products sectors, representatives of JETRO, and other agencies including Press media.  The Indian side will comprise of CLE, Embassy of India and official from         Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Both sides will make presentations on their respective industries and deliberate on the ways and means to increase the cooperation between the two countries in the leather sector. This session will be for about 90 minutes.

As part of the programme, the Council will be putting up an Information Booth in the ISF for all 3 days of the Trade Fair, wherein the information kits will be distributed to the Japanese companies, and interactions will be held with the trade visitors on various aspects, and salient features of the Indian leather industry will be highlighted to the Japanese companies to motivate them to have collaborations with India. The Indian Leather Fairs (DILF, ILGF, and IILF) will also be promoted in the India Stand.
