Sub : Amendments in Duty Free Import Scheme (DFIS)
Dear Member,
As members are aware, manufacturer exporters of Leather Garments
are allowed to import certain essential inputs/components/embellishments
to an extent of 3% of previous year’s FOB value of export
under the Duty Free Import Scheme (DFIS), as per Serial No. 167
of Customs Notification No. 21/2002 dated 1.3.2002, as amended from
time to time.
The Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India
have now issued a Customs Notification No. 13/2002 dated Jan.24,2008
(copy enclosed) as per which “printed bags”
have also been included as one of the eligible inputs under
serial no. 167 of the Customs Notification No. 21/2002, for import
under the DFIS scheme.
The said Notification has also made some amendments in serial no.
168 of the Customs Notification No. 21/2002, as per which the lining
and interlining materials falling under Chapter Nos. 43,52,54,55,56,58,59
or 60 will be eligible for availing duty free import to
the extent of 2% of FOB value of export of the previous year.
Member-exporters may kindly note the above and avail the benefit
accordingly.
