Dear Members,
It gives me immense pleasure to THANK all our Members participants for their overwhelming response towards supporting Council’s participation at the 28th India International Leather Fair (IILF) held in Chennai during January 31 - February 3, 2013. I am confident that the just concluded IILF would have provided a wealth of business opportunites for all our Member participants.
Most importantly, I would like to THANK the Chairman of the Council, Vice-Chairman, Regional-Chairmen and Members of the Council for their wholesome contribution in various endeavours of the Council held during the Leather Week 2013.

| January 28, 2013 |
The Council distributed about 24 Design Awards to Manufacturers / Exporters of Leather Garments, Leather Accessories, Footwear & Compts, Freelance Designers, Design Institute Students during the inauguration of LERIG 2013 at CLRI. |
| January 30, 2013 |
The Council in coordination with ITPO organized a Press Meet about IILF 2013, upcoming Events and highlighted the status / future prospects of Indian Leather Industry in achieving an export target of US$ 14 bn mark. The Council organized an Interactive Meeting with a High Level Delegation from Ethiopia in order to explore the possibilities of establishing JVs / collaborations between India and Ethiopian Leather sector |

The Council presented about 17 MODEUROP Awards to the manufacturers/exporters who had presented the Top colors for Autumn Winter 2013/14 and Spring Summer 2014 selected by MODEUROP Roundtable & Color Club. The Council distributed about 73 Export Performance Awards to Member-exporters of the Council during the inauguration of IILF 2013 duly selected by the Award Sub-Committee. |

As part of MAI Annual Action Plan 2012-13, the Council organized a Two-Day Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet in Chennai. About 30 Member Exporters of Leather Products participated in the said Event and held B2B meetings with about 28 Overseas buyers from 16 countries invited by the Council under hospitality package. The RBSM was inaugurated byDr. S Jagathrakshakan, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce & industry, Govt of India in the presence of Shri J K Dadoo, Joint Secretary, Dept of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt, Shri. P.R. Aqeel Ahmed, Regional Chairman - Southern Region,Shri M Rafeeque Ahmed, Convener IILF 2013 & President FIEO, Regional Chairmen, ED-CLE, COA members and other dignitaries In order to provide adequate media coverage of technological advancements and industrial development taken place in the Indian leather sector, 09 overseas media groups from Italy, UK, Spain & France visited the IILF 2013. The Council convened a Press Conference with oversees media. An exclusive Press Release for the foreign press was issued on the occasion.

The Council coordinated the visit of a 20 member delegation from Iran to IILF 2013, RBSM and organized meetings with Industry Members, CLRI and other Scientists in order to discuss technological related cooperation including knowledge sharing, technical support for production improvements, manpower development etc. Besides, Factory visits were also organized for the Iranian Delegation. |
In this backdrop, we wish to state that the Council is initiating necessary action in order to address important issues emerging from the above programmes.
