Sub: Two-Day India Leather Show in Montreal, Canada – October 11 & 12, 2012 ( Footwear, Leather Garments, Leather Goods & Accessories, Leather Gloves etc)

As you are kindly aware, Canada is a potential market for Leather & Leather Products. Canada’s import of leather & leather products had increased from US$ 1967.42 mn in 2005 to US$ 2190.96 mn in 2009, growing at a cumulative annual growth rate of close to 3%.

During 2009, Canada’s import of Footwear, Leather Garments and Leather Goods & Accessories touched US$ 1283.15 million during 2009, accounting for a share of 60%.in Canada’s total leather import trade of US$ 2190.96 mn. On the other hand, India’s export of these product categories to Canada touched US$ 24.51 mn in 2010-11, accounting for an import share of close to 2.00% in its total imports.

Taking into consideration the scope to further enhance India’s export of leather products to Canada, we have now planned to organize a Two-Day India Leather Show in Montreal, Canada during October 11 & 12, 2012. The India Leather Show will be organized by the Council in association with the Indian Mission in Canada and by engaging the services of a professional marketing agency for undertaking Event Publicity and Buyer Mobilization Campaign.

Since the India Leather Show is funded under MAI assistance of Govt of India, taking into consideration the actual expenditure and MAI assistance, the participation fee has been fixed at Rs.50,000/- per company.

In this background, I request all Member Exporters to consider participating in this important Event in Canada for exploring the possibilities of enhancing India’s export of leather products. Interested Members may confirm their participation by sending the filled-in Application Form along with the Participation Fee of Rs.50,000/- through a Cheque/DD drawn in favour of Council for Leather Exports latest by 30th June, 2012 to enable us proceed with our preparatory arrangements.
