BENEFICIARIES UNDER MAI PROGRAMME ORGANISED BY THE COUNCIL
The Council has been availing grant under the Market Access Initiative Scheme of the Dept. of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry since the year May 2001.

As per the Scheme Guidelines, the level of assistance given for Participation in Trade Fairs, Buyer Seller Meets, etc abroad is given below:
Under the Scheme, assistance is provided for participation in Trade Fairs/Exhibitions at identified potential places abroad on Focus Country-Product basis. Participation in such Fairs/Exhibitions will normally be part of a comprehensive strategy.
Level of Assistance: 2/3rd of the actual expenditure. The expenditure on TA/DA would be met by each participant. The assistance would be subject to a ceiling of Rs.50.00 lakhs for each fair. The following sub-components would be covered.

As per the erstwhile MAI scheme guidelines, MAI assistance was provided to l exporters were to:

Setting up of Inhouse Design Studio facilities by individual exporters under the head Research & Product Development
-
Opening of Showrooms/Warehouse by individual exporters.

The detailed scheme guidelines are given below.
Research & Product Development:
Selected exporters/Export Promotion Councils (EPCs)/Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) would be assisted in modernizing and upgrading the identified products as per needs of the targeted markets on country-product focus basis as component of the approved project under the scheme. Strategic alliances with local marketing networks can also be taken with a view to targeting and upgrading the products as per need of the targeted markets and for establishing marketing links.
Level of Assistance: 25% of the approved cost and the balance 75% would be borne by the concerned exporters. |

Opening
of Warehouse / Showrooms:
Show rooms/Warehouses would be set up for selected consumer items at identified centers on the basis of marketing studies in leased or rental accommodation. The participants will bear the rental / leased charges and full maintenance. The 75%, 50%, 25%, of the leased/rental charges will be borne by the scheme in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year respectively. |
