Sub: MICAM – The Shoe Event, Milan Italy, September 19-22, 2010 Edition

Dear Members,

As members are aware the Council had been regularly organizing participation of member exporters in the MICAM The Shoe Event held at Milan twice a year. Being a Premier Global footwear fair in Italy for mid, top and luxury footwear, the Council’s participation in the past several editions have yielded positive response to our member participants.

In continuation to participation in the MICAM – The Shoe Event, March 2010 edition, the Council now proposed to organize participation in September 2010 edition of MICAM – The Shoe Event scheduled from 19th to 22nd September 2010 in Rho, Milan Exhibiton Center.

The March 2010 edition of the fair witnessed a total of 36,623 Business visitors of footwear, of which 18,936 were foreign visitors mainly from Spain, France, Germany, Russia Japan, USA etc. There were 17687 Italian visitors Business enquiries received by the member-participants in the CLE India Pavilion was also good.

Considering the importance of the MICAM Fair for Footwear sector, in furthering Indian footwear exports to European Market particularly to Italy,  the Council Proposes to organize participation of more number of Indian Exporters in this Shoe Event. Accordingly, the Council will book the space for CLE India Pavilion

It may be mentioned that the MICAM Shoe Fair Organiser have indicated the following:

1. Participation response for the September 2010 Edition is very encouraging and they are getting reconfirmation from previous participants.  
2. Space booking is in progress for September 2010 edition. 
3. Council is required to make early booking of space so that they could consider allocating better location for CLE India Pavilion.
4. Fair organizer have advised the Council to make final space booking for CLE India Pavilion before 25th April 2010.

In this back drop, we request our member exporters to confirm their participation in the September 2010 edition of MICAM Shoe Event by remitting the contribution of Rs. 3.25 lakh along with Application Form as per format attached.  

The minimum space to be booked is 16 sq mtrs and there after in multiples of 4 sq mtrs i.e., 20 sq mtrs, 24sq mtrs,… The contribution  is  Rs.3,25000/- for 16 sq mtrs.  For every additional 4 sq mtrs of space, the contribution amount payable will be Rs.81,250/- for 4 sq mtrs. The cheque should be drawn in favour of “ Council for Leather Exports “

Assistance to exporters under MDA Scheme :

Members participating in this fair (who export turnover during 2009-10 is less than Rs. 15 Crores) are eligible to claim an MDA Grant maximum of Rs. 1,50,000/- on economy excursion class air fare and space rent., subject to fulfillment of other MDA eligibility criteria as per MDA norms. For detailed MDA Guidelines, members may refer the MDA section in the website of the Council www.leatherindia.org . MDA intimation application should be received by the Council by giving minimum 14 days advance notice excluding date of receipt of application in the Council and date of departure from the Country.

Member-exporters may please note all these and send their Application Form along with adhoc contribution amount of Rs. 3.25 lakh on or before the 20th  April,  2010.  to the Council’s Head Office or Regional Offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Kanpur, Kolkata and Agra Extension Office.

Please note that Participants will have to arrange the Italian Visa on their own. However, CLE will arrange for the Invitation Letter from the fair organizer to facilitate obtaining of visa to participants. Kindly note that non-issuance of visa will not be considered as a valid ground for withdrawal subsequent to confirmation of participation. Hence, withdrawal from participation after confirmation will not be allowed.
