Sub : Payment of Drawback in the Exporters Core Banking Enabled Bank
Account in Any Branch/Bank anywhere in the country – reg.

Dear Member,

As members are aware, exporters are required to open a bank account only with the authorized bank branch at the port of export, for the purpose of credit of the DBK amount under the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES).

The Directorate General of Systems & Data Management, Customs and Central Excise, Govt. of India has issued a circular no. 1/2008 dated 24.6.2008 (copy enclosed) stating that it has been decided to credit the drawback amount under ICES in the exporters account in any core banking branch of the authorized bank anywhere in the country. In respect of exporters whose accounts are not in the authorized banks at the EDI location but in some other bank, the facility of RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) and NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer) would be used to transfer the credit of drawback amount in the exporters account provided the concerned branch of the other bank is RTGS and NEFT enabled. As per the said circular, such credit of the Drawback amount will be done only through respective Customs Authorized Bank at the respective EDI locations. The detailed procedure for availing this facility is also given in the said circular no. 1/2008 dated 24.6.2008.

Members may however note that this procedure of crediting DBK amount has come into effect from July 1, 2008 at  the Jawahar Lal Nehru Custom House (Nhava Sheva), ICD Tughlakabad, ICD Pataprganj and Air Cargo (Exports) NCH, New Delhi. Remaining ICES locations will implement the above procedure with effect from 15-07-2008.

With regards
