Dear Members,
Sub: U S Wood Packaging Rules (ISPM 15) effective from 16th September 2005
The Council recently received a communication from the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, informing that US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) has issued a Notification, clarifying that regulation relating to US Wood Packaging Rules (ISPM 15) will be implemented in a phased manner.
A copy of Note as hosted in website of US Custom and Border Protection (www.cbp.gov) is attached herewith which provide detailed information about this US regulation and its implementation modalities.
Accordingly, in the first phase from Sept 16, 2005 to 1st Feb 2006, there will only be a period of informed compliance with no stoppage or re-export of shipments for non-compliant to Wood Packaging Regulation.
This is for your information of member-exporters and necessary guidance is exporting leather products to US destinations with wood packaging material.
