Dear Members,
Sub: Focus Product Scheme
We invite to your attention to the Council’s circulars No.14/005/106/2006 dated 19th June 2006 and 22nd January 2007 giving complete details of the Focus Product Scheme and the application form as recently notified by the DGFT.
In this connection, we now forward herewith a DGFT Notification No.41(RE-2006)/2004-09 dated 17th January 2007 which amends focus product scheme to the effect the entitlement under the scheme shall be granted to all shipments that are exported through customs EDI enable ports. (DGFT Notification appended below)
By virtue of this amendment the export shipments effected through EDI system of various customs are only eligible for the benefit of the scheme. Since, several ICDs in places like Kanpur, Agra, Jallandhar are not having EDI system for custom clearance export import consignments, the exports effected through these ICDs will not be eligible for the benefit of Focus Product Scheme.
In view of such impact of new amendment, the Council immediately took up the matter with DGFT for making the export effected through non-EDI enabled customs also to be eligible for the focus product scheme.
The matter is being pursued with DGFT for necessary modification to the scheme. As soon as we receive the Notification, the Council shall inform the members immediately.
