Sub : Handbook on Export Standards for
Leather Products and Footwear
Dear Member,
We wish to inform you that the Federation of Indian Micro and Small
& Medium Enterprises (FISME) has published a book called Handbook
on Export Standards for Leather and Footwear Products.
This Handbook contains details of prescribed Residual Substances
Limits (RSLs) for the presence of various chemicals including colourants/dyes
by various European countries and the USA and also details of various
voluntary requirements like Eco-Labelling etc., for footwear and
leather products. Besides this, information on quality specifications
for leather, test methods of standard organizations like International
Organization for Standardization (ISO), European Committee for Standardization,
International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies
(IULTCS) are also covered in the book.
The addresses of various testing laboratories in India and also
consulting agencies for obtaining ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and SA 8000
certifications are also given in the book.
The Handbook is hosted in the website of the FISME www.fisme.org.in
under the heading Studies and Publications, which members may refer.
