Dear Members,
Sub:Government of India financial assistance to SSI units for acquiring ISO 9000 / 14001 certification
In the present context of competitive international trade environment, those manufacturing units possessing ISO certification would have additional competitive edge, from the perspective of the overseas buying community. This is due to the simple reason that the manufacturing facilities in such units would confirm to the highest & stringent quality standards, and overseas buyers lay utmost importance to this aspect. Hence, the Council has been urging the industry members to take necessary steps to obtain ISO certification.
In order to assist the manufacturing units in the SSI sector in acquiring such certification, the Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO) in the Ministry of SSI, Government of India, New Delhi have been implementing a financial assistance scheme for units in the SSI sector. Under the scheme, 75% of the expenses incurred by the SSI units for acquiring ISO 9000 / 14001 certification are reimbursed subject to a ceiling of Rs.75000/-. This scheme will continue upto 31.03.2007.
Member-exporters in the SSI sector may avail of the above scheme, and obtain ISO certification for their units.
